Jannae Knospe
Jannae comes to this project with over 20 years of design, propaganda and organizing experience. Her work over the past decade has focused specifically on helping unions across the nation harness the power of digital technologies to build worker power and win legislative victories. She is proud of her work with Colorado Care Workers Unite where she used digital technologies to help the field team identify and mobilize thousands of home care workers, their clients and supporters to win the Direct Care Workforce Stabilization Board.
In 2018, Jannae joined forces with 3 other social justice fighters to co-found Samara Collective, a democratically-run organization committed to advancing equity through strategic communications and capacity building. Prior to co-founding the Collective, she served as the communications director for the hugely successful Save Our Public Schools ballot campaign to stop the expansion of charter schools in 2016, and was senior graphic and new media designer for 1199SEIU Massachusetts, where she led home care worker outreach, as well as designed for the local Fight for 15 campaign.
Jannae truly believes that workers’ voices and leadership must be at the forefront of all campaigns and is dedicated to using her experience to find, train and support the next generation of rank and file leaders. She holds a B.F.A. in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design, where she concentrated her studies on the effect of art in social and political change and has continued her studies in labor history at the UMass Labor department and at the United Association for Labor Education Summer School for Woman in Unions and Worker Organizations.
